Santorini organizes many festivals all over summer to keep alive its traditions and also to promote the artistic vibe of the island. Apart from the religious festivals that include traditional eating, drinking and dancing on the name day of a saint, there are also other cultural events on Santorini.

The most famous festival of the island is the Jazz Festival, which is organized every summer and attracts friends of jazz music from all over the world. In the context of this festival, there are jazz musical concerts by famous artists. The concerts are held in the open theatre of Kamari village in the months of July and August.

The Ifestia Festival is organized in the middle of August by the municipality of Santorini to honour the impressive volcano of the island. There festival includes traditional dancing, music concerts, exhibitions and impressive fireworks as a remembrance of the ancient volcanic eruption of Thera, which destroyed the Minoan civilizations of Akrotiri and Crete.

The International Music Festival of Santorini is held every year on September and it is organized by the Petros Nomikos Conference Centre. This festival includes musical concerts of mainly classical music and opera singing.
